Sometimes it's an old sign with great typography. Sometimes it's a favorite mug. Sometimes it's a butterfly that makes me stop what I was doing.
What begins as an ordinary thing often becomes something else entirely. House Notes is a collection of essays on memory, making, design, and the ordinary things that are worth keeping.
I Don’t Start With A Logo
A good logo shouldn’t feel like the beginning of a story.
It should feel like it has always belonged to it.
Things our House Doesn’t Have
The sink gets dirty.
The mugs are for drinking.
The wardrobe pantry has snacks (usually).
Spilled something on the floor? No big deal.
Our house was meant to be lived in.
